Driveway Gates Bring Garden Design to Life
This project features a Cathedral courtyard gate in a bespoke design that replaced the usual steel bars with timber. This gives the driveway gate a completely different look. The timber theme continues as the heavy duty galvanised steel posts that support the gate have been timber clad, concealing the steel structure beneath.
The gate is designed with a gentle downward curve that gives an elegant concave shape when it is closed for a unique, modern appearance. This downward curve is then mirrored in the fencing along the property boundary. By using Featherboard the pales of the fence were customised to create a gentle curvature as you move away from the gate.
The decision was taken to automate the gate opening and closing. Automated gates mean you have easy access in and out of the property, and they are also a lot quicker to use than getting out of the car to open and then close the gate. With automation, the entry method can vary: Most often in residential areas, a key fob is used for remote control. Additionally, an intercom can be fitted on the outside of the gate for visitors to communicate with the house. Other options include swipe cards or a keypad. Automated gates are more secure and make your property less appealing to opportunistic burglars.
To finish off the driveway, lattice trellis panels were installed at the rear to mark the end of the driveway.
